Installation on Windows Server 2012 & Windows 8


BackupChain may be installed on all current Windows operating system versions, including Hyper-V Server 2012 and Windows Server 2012 / R2 (Full and Core Installs are both supported with full GUI). More information about our Single-Click Hyper-V Backup can be found on our Hyper-V protection page.

On Windows Server 2008 R1 and R2 Full installations, no configuration is necessary. Simply start the EXE package from the download page.

On Windows Server 2012 you need to run the DISM commands below to install .NET 2.0 (Part of the .NET 3.5 package) if you haven't already installed it.

 

.NET Framework 2.0 Installation on Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 with User Interface

On Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 you need to install the .NET framework 3.5 which includes .Net 2.0 via the Programs & Features menu of Windows. To install, hold the Windows key on your keyboard and press X, then choose Programs and Features. Then select “Turn Windows features on or off” and continue to Features until you see .NET Framework 3.5 listed. Check and continue installation.

Then install BackupChain by running BackupChainSetup.exe. The BackupChain Monitor application needs to be started from the "Start menu".

BackupChain Installation on Windows Server 2012 Core Installations

Then change directory to the folder containing the setup page you downloaded from our download page and unzip it. Run BackupChainSetup.exe to install.

 

How to Run BackupChain Monitor on Core Installations

Run C:\Program Files\FastNeuron Inc\BackupChain\BackupChain.exe to open the BackupChain Monitor Application.

The free Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 and Hyper-V Server 2012 operating systems may be downloaded directly from Microsoft.
