P2V and V2V to Hyper-V – Final Steps – Adding the Virtual Machine
When you perform a P to V or V to V conversion, the end result is one or more new virtual disk files. These need to be attached to a new Hyper-V virtual machine.
The final step is simple. You simply create a new Hyper-V VM with similar settings as the original computer or VM. Then attach the VM to an IDE or SATA controller. If the VM is UEFI based, or in the case of P2V the computer had UEFI, you need to choose Generation 2, as in our example (Windows Server 2025).
